About Bank Street

Where We Are and How to Get Here

Bank Street College is located in a bustling family and university neighborhood four blocks from Columbia University and one block from St. John the Divine, the largest Gothic cathedral in North America. We are a short bus ride from Lincoln Center and Fifth Avenue. Our main building is just a few steps off Broadway, a busy avenue lined with shops and restaurants. We are conveniently located near subway lines, bus routes, and major roads.

DIRECTIONS TO BANK STREET COLLEGE

Bank Street College is located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan at 610 West 112th Street, between Broadway and Riverside Drive. It is easily accessible by car, bus, or subway from anywhere in New York City, including the local airports.

Please note that Bank Street North is located at 132 Claremont Avenue, between 122nd and 123rd Streets (ten blocks north and one block west of the main building).

By Car:
From the NORTH: Take the 95th/96th Street exit of the Henry Hudson Parkway (West Side Highway). Take the first exit (95th Street) and make a left at the light onto Riverside Drive and drive north. Make a right onto 110th Street. Take the first left and then the first right onto 112th Street. The main building of Bank Street College is on your right, mid-block.

From the SOUTH: Take the 95th/96th Street exit of the Henry Hudson Parkway (West Side Highway). Make a left onto Broadway. Make a left onto 111th Street, then turn right at the end of the block. Take the next right onto 112th Street. The main building of Bank Street College is on your right, mid-block.

To reach the Henry Hudson Parkway from the north: New York Thruway (Route 87) or New England Thruway (I-95) to the Cross Bronx Expressway toward the George Washington Bridge. Bear right as you approach the bridge and take the exit for Henry Hudson Parkway south.

From the east: Grand Central Parkway or Long Island Expressway west to the Cross Island Parkway north. Cross over the Throgs Neck Bridge to the Cross Bronx Expressway toward the George Washington Bridge. Exit onto the Henry Hudson Parkway south. From the south and west: New Jersey Turnpike (I-95) north or 1-80 east to the George Washington Bridge. Exit the bridge onto theHenry Hudson Parkway south.

Parking: Limited street parking is available in the neighborhood. There are three parking garages in the area:


By Train:
Amtrak and other commuter trains arrive at Grand Central Station (Lexington Avenue and 42nd Street) or Pennsylvania Station (7th Avenue and 34th Street). We recommend that you take a taxi from the train or bus stations if you are coming to Bank Street for the first time.(Uptown subways are also available at each station - see "Local Subway".)

By Bus:
Buses arrive at New York's Port Authority Bus Terminal located at 8th Avenue and 42nd Street. We recommend that you take a taxi from the train or bus stations if you are coming to Bank Street for the first time. (Uptown subways are also available at the Port Authority - see "Local Subway".)

By Air:
Taxis provide the most efficient means of transportation from JFK, LaGuardia or Newark airports. The fare should range from $20-$40. Prices are subject to change.

The Carey Airport Limousine Service provides bus transportation from JFK or LaGuardia. The fare is $8-$11. Get off at Grand Central Station at Lexington Avenue and 42nd Street. (Take a taxi, bus or subway - see "Local Bus" or "Local Subway".) Prices are subject to change.

The M60 Local Bus runs from LaGuardia Airport to Broadway and 112th Street. Ask the bus driver to tell you when you reach this stop. Bus fare is $2.00 in exact change (no bills).

From Newark Airport: New Jersey Transit buses leave from Newark Airport and arrive at New York Cityís Port Authority Bus Terminal at 8th Avenue and 42nd Street every 15 minutes. (Take a taxi or subway from there - see "Local Subway".)

Local Subway:
In Manhattan, the Broadway local No. 1 stops at 110th Street and Broadway (the Cathedral Parkway stop, and the nearest to Bank Street). The subway fare is $2.00. Metrocards can be purchased in all subway stations.

If you take the No. 2 or No. 3 express trains, transfer to the local No. 1 at 96th Street. If you ride the #7, N or R lines, transfer to the 1 local at Times Square/42nd Street. From the A, B, C, or D lines, transfer to the 1 at 59th Street.

Local Bus:
Four bus lines stop near campus. Bus fare is $2.00 in exact change (no bills).
The Madison Avenue M4 bus and the Broadway M104 bus stops at Broadway and 113th Street.
The Sixth Avenue M5 bus stops at Riverside Drive and 112th Street.
The Amsterdam Avenue M11 bus stops at Amsterdam and 112th Street.
