Finding Articles & Books
Databases
Use databases to find articles in journals. Most of our databases are EbscoHost, sign-up for a free My Ebsco account and save articles from databases in one place. To find out more ask the librarian on call at the reference desk.
Library Catalog
Don't forget books! The catalog is the place for finding out what the Library has to offer.
Course EReserves
Occassionally, your instructor may place articles on EReserve. If this is the case, please ask your instructor for the password.
Find a Journal
If you have a citation but are unsure whether Bank Street Library has the journal either online, or in print consult Find a Journal.
Finding Items In Other Libraries
To request items that Bank Street Library does not own, the Library can make an Interlibrary loan request through the WorldCat database.
If New York Public Library owns a copy of a needed item it is usually quicker for patrons to visit the branch or research facility concerned. There is usually a two week turn-around for books through Interlibrary loan, and one week for articles. To learn more visit our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) webpage.
Another library worth searching is The Library of Congress.
